Computing

Computing

At Grove Wood Primary School, we believe that computing is an essential part of the National Curriculum and is an integral part of everyday life; therefore, it provides a wealth of learning opportunities.

Computing plays an immeasurable part in our children’s futures, so it is important that we enable our staff and pupils to be confident, competent and independent users of ICT. We aim to use computing - where appropriate - to motivate and inspire pupils and raise standards across all subjects in the curriculum. This will ensure that they are able to use ICT in a safe and respectful way, within school, at home and in the local community.

Through the study of computing, children will be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of a wide range of fundamental skills, such as programming, data representation and analytical thinking, which they will need for the rest of their lives. With the acquisition of these skills, children will be well equipped to apply this to a wide range of new or unfamiliar technologies in the future.
