Venue: Hadleigh Park
A selection of children from Yr 3, 4 and 5 competed in both the individual and team county cross country competitions at Hadleigh Park. The course was tough underfoot and the children were nervous about their races but they all gave it their best. Overall we did well, with Grace W. finishing 28th in her race, Jessica J. finishing 7th and Lester W. finishing 3rd in his. It was a wonderful occasion, celebrating inter school sport, with over 200 children running in this event.

Grove Wood took 45 children across Key Stage 2 to compete in the annual District Cross Country Event at the Deanes School. The children ran brilliantly on the day, showing positivity and resilience throughout the gruelling races. Well done to all who took part with congratulations to the Year 4 and Year 6 girls teams who were year group winners. Overall 164 children ran in each race and special mention goes to the stand out Grove Wood performances by Amelia B. who won the Year 6 Girls race, Grace W. who won the Year 4 Girls race and Jessica J. who won the Year 3 Girls race.

A massive well done goes to all the children who participated in the latest round of the cross-country series! It was cold, wet and very muddy - but most of the runners loved it! The children covered two or three laps of the course and all runners showed tremendous determination and resilience to complete the course. There were a number of fantastic individual performances too, with Naomi S winning her race with Francesca W and Amelia B hot on her heals and Ronnie R who finished first in the year three boys' race.

On a very wet Tuesday 1st March, 48 Grove Wood pupils went to Castle View School to take part in a Cross Country Event. Everyone performed admirably and the Year 3 Girls, Year 4 Boys and Year 5 Girls teams all won Borough Champions. Notable successes were: Year 5 girls Amelia B (2nd) and Fran W (3rd) and Year 4 boys Lester W (1st) and Matthew B (2nd).
