The theme for KS1 this term is SQUARE EYES
Our Theme this half term is......
Throughout this theme we will be focusing on TV programmes and after talking with the children there will be a short focus on X Factor.
Throughout this theme we will be
- Applying our knowledge of electricity that we have learnt about during Autumn 1 to add lights and buzzers to the stages we will make.
- building simple wooden stage structures using a variety of tools and skills.
- designing and creating a performance outfit for a small figure.
- Learning about poetry and creating our own song lyrics.
- Creating music to add to our songs.
- Creating an advert using a range of ICT skills.
- Learning about major cities in the UK.
- Learning about collecting data and making graphs to show the information found.
- Continuing to develop our ability to carry out calculations and applying these in a variety of problems.
Learning at Home
- Children need to continue to work on their count me in and rainbow challenge level.
- Read on a regular basis.
- Practice their spelling and reading words.
- Complete their extension reading and spelling activities.
Many children bring in work they have done at home linked to our learning in school which we really welcome and encourage. This half term, we have had some fantastic stories and designs of The Iron Man as well as much more.
During this term we will also be learning about Christmas and putting together a fantastic performance we hope to share with you.

Staff and children have had such a fantastic start to the school year and have thoroughly enjoyed our “Melt Down” Theme. The children have had a big part in planning their learning and we look forward to the interesting ideas they have for us in our up and coming theme. Thank you for all your support and we look forward to seeing you during open door.
